the last 5 years! (not the musical)
All respects to JRB despite the fact I am solidly #teamCathy…and are of course obsessed with Rachel Zegler’s version…
Anyway. Time moves forward for me not backwards like in the musical, but allow me to introduce myself here. My name is Hannah and I am the owner and founder of Bridal Maven, a bridal consignment shop in Dormont, PA. I have two music degrees, two kids, two dogs, and one husband. I’ve been meaning to write this blog for the entirety of the existence of the shop but now, five years ish after opening, I am getting around to it!
You can read my bio here so I won’t rehash everything, but this is going to just be a space for me to communicate directly with you. I’ve been in bridal since 2013, and I have seen a lot - I’ve seen the boho revolution, was there for the rise and fall of fast fashion store bridal (RIP J Crew Bridal), watched the average cost of a wedding gown creep ever closer to $2000, and currently observing the triumphant return of alencon and chantilly lace after a solid 5 year run of glitter tulle. My 2 cents is worth at least 15 with inflation these days ;)
Sara, dutiful star of the IG and stylist extraordinaire, will chime in from time to time with sensible blog topics and opinions. I’m here to say what I want! Ha. Don’t worry, I am an Aries, I was going to do so anyway!
The last 5 years were certainly a very interesting time to strike out on my own with a concept shop like Bridal Maven. Since opening, we’ve helped over a THOUSAND of you find a gorgeous gown at an affordable price, with significant discounts from the retail price of the gowns. We annually donate to local charities and disaster relief off the proceeds. We sponsor community events. Honestly, this is all the dream - helping brides, helping newlyweds, helping the community, and supporting an effort to reduce waste in the wedding industry. I can’t wait to see how the next five years unfold!
